Re-Imagine Prague
The plurality of forms that photography will assume and show along the exhibition recalls the maxim of the European Community (EU)—United in Diversity—representing its constitutive national contrast coming together within the European project. With this inspiration in mind, vintage prints and born-digital artifacts, manual and mechanical techniques, black-and-white and color photography, and figurative and abstract imagery combine to integrate a composite presentation converging into a coherent ensemble. Rethinking, rebuilding, and repowering the EU, understanding "Europe as a task," is the chosen motto for the Czech Presidency based on former President Vaclav Havel's inspiring slogan (1996).
From an aesthetic and curatorial perspective, the exhibition invites the public to imagine the mother of cities—Praga mater urbium—through the malleability of the photographic medium in the hands of a Prague-born artist. The title Re-Imagine Prague potentiates creativity through the technical possibilities available today in digital photography in terms of post-production manipulation.
